New Westminster’s newest addition to the downtown core is quickly taking shape. Now that construction activity is above grade, people can't help but notice the progress at the corner of 8th and Columbia.
What will the Anvil Centre be used for? The Anvil Centre will be four storeys and will have 84,000 square feet of interior space including:
- Conference and meeting facilities with room for a 500 seat reception
- Flexible 350 seat non-proscenium theatre
- Multi-purpose rooms and art studios
- Civic art gallery and gift shop
- City’s museum and archives
- Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame
- Tourism New Westminster’s visitor information desk
- Street level retail space
Above the civic facility will be a nine storey, 137,000 square foot office tower (Merchant Square). It will offer first class, LEED Gold office space in a highly efficient layout.
This new addition along with Trapp+Holbrook, Northbank, and the newly opened Shops at New West Station will contribute new life and vibrancy in downtown New Westminster.
